Privacy policy

Sarathi is a reflective companion that offers guidance inspired by the Bhagavad Gita. It is not a medical, psychological or legal service. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Our promises, in plain words
- Only you can see your conversations. Not other users, and no one at Sarathi browses them.
- Never sold, never used for ads. Sarathi has no ads and doesn't sell or share your data for marketing.
- Never used to train AI. What you write is used only to reply to you, not to train AI models.
- Protected. Encrypted on the way to our servers and while stored.
- You're in control. Delete any conversation, any memory note, or your whole account, any time.
- Guests' words stay on their device. If you don't sign in, your conversations stay in your browser, not on our servers.
- We count, we don't read. To improve Sarathi we count anonymous things like visits and which features are used. Never what you write, and no ad trackers.
Sarathi remembers what matters so it can help you better, and you decide what it keeps. It stays between you and Sarathi.
What we collect
- Google account basics when you sign in: name, email address and profile photo.
- Your conversations: the messages you send and Sarathi's replies.
- Memory notes (only if memory is on): short notes drawn from your conversations, such as an ongoing situation or what has helped you.
- Settings: your preferred guidance style, memory on/off, check-in emails on/off, and your consent record.
- Letters and reflective exercises (signed-in only): what you write, unless you release it into the fire (then the words are deleted). Sealed letters are stored but never sent to the AI. As a guest, nothing you write in an exercise is stored.
- Check-ins (only if you turn them on): the practice Sarathi suggested, when the follow-up email was sent, and the answer you tapped (for example “It helped”).
- If you use Sarathi without signing in, your conversations stay in your browser and are not stored on our servers.
- Anonymous usage counts: a random ID made by your browser (not linked to your name, email or account), the link you first arrived from, and which features were used, such as “sent a message”, “opened a verse” or “finished a breathing practice”. They never include what you write. They tell us whether Sarathi is helping and whether people come back. Clearing your browser's site data resets the ID.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and let you return to past conversations.
- To make guidance more relevant to you over time (memory).
- If you ask for them, to email you a short check-in the morning after a conversation. The subject line never mentions what you talked about.
- To keep the service safe and working, for example preventing abuse.
- To understand, in anonymous totals, which features help people and how to improve Sarathi.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who processes it
- Supabase stores accounts, conversations and memory notes.
- OpenAI processes messages to write replies and memory notes. Data sent through OpenAI's API is not used to train their models by default.
- Vercel hosts the app and counts anonymous page visits (Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies).
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that guests are human, to stop bots. It sees technical details of your browser, not your conversations.
- Resend delivers check-in emails, if you turn them on.
Your choices and rights
- View, edit or delete any memory note, or switch memory off, on the What Sarathi knows page.
- Delete any conversation from the side panel, and any letter on the “Your letters” page.
- Stop check-in emails with the link in any email, or switch them off on the same page.
- Delete your account and all your data at any time from the same page. This is permanent.
- Withdraw consent at any time by switching memory off or deleting your account.
- Contact us about your data at sarathigitacounsel@gmail.com.
Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. Accounts inactive for one year may be deleted after advance notice. When you delete your account, your conversations and memory notes are removed. Anonymous usage counts are kept for about 13 months, then deleted.
Age
Sarathi is for people aged 18 and over.
